A DuPage County Board committee has agreed to spend up to $25,000 for a study to determine whether three ground-floor conference rooms at the Convalescent Center in Wheaton can be used as a day care facility for the children of county employees.

County officials have been exploring the possibility of providing day care services for employees for about a year. A survey last year indicated that a day care center at the county government complex could attract 60 to 80 children.

The study approved Monday by members of the board’s Health and Human Services Committee is to determine whether the space at the Convalescent Center would be suitable for a day care center.
