There seems to be a little discrimination at work at the Household Pet Weekend’s cat and dog shows. Dogs – who’ll be judged at the show on Saturday – get to enter cool categories like best costume, fastest gift opener and best kisser. Cats? The cat-egories are just tabby, tabby with white, siamese, solid and solid white. (They’ll be judged at the Sunday show only.) That’s right – Homes for Endangered & Lost Pets, the not-for-profit agency that raises money for the welfare of abandoned and injured animals, has betrayed a bit of feline-phobia. The answer? Organize! Dress those kitties up, have them slurp their sandpaper tongues at every judge, have ’em scratch and scream their way to equality. The pet fair, which is open to healthy dogs and kitties more than 4 months old, takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles.
