Daryl Hall and John Oates embodied blue-eyed soul in the ’80s, and it seemed the hits would never end: “One On One,” “Maneater,” “Kiss On My List.” But in the ’90s, the Philadelphia-bred duo hit a dry spell. “Marigold Sky” blends acoustic-tinged pop tunes like the title track with the slick, Philly soul-influenced ballads (“Throw the Roses Away,” “Promise Ain’t Enough”) for which they’re known. Hall’s voice remains one of the best in pop, but the material here is B-level.
