Shootings and a beating in Harvey and Chicago left two men and a boy dead and two others injured late Friday and early Saturday, police said.
In Harvey, police are looking for suspects in the slaying of 25-year-old John White, who was shot while sitting in his car in a parking lot of Wasso’s Plaza at 159th and Wood streets. White, of 100 block of West 158th Street in Harvey, was found slumped across the driver’s side of a car, was shot about 8:45 p.m. Friday, Harvey Police Cmdr. Phil Arnold said.
White died in surgery at Columbia Olympia Fields Osteopathic Hospital and Medical Center.
Another Harvey man was shot at 10:50 p.m. Friday in what Arnold described as an attempted carjacking in a parking lot at 147th Street and Loomis Avenue. Curtis Harris, 19, was coming out of a liquor store, and two men demanded his keys, police said. Harris was shot twice as he ran back into the store. Harris was listed in stable condition at Columbia Olympia Fields Osteopathic Hospital and Medical Center on Saturday night.
In Chicago, police had no suspects late Saturday in the fatal shooting of Patrick Coleman, 16, of the 7600 block of South Campbell Avenue.
Coleman was shot in the head about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, police said. After Colman allegedly flashing gang signs at a passing car, someone jumped out and shot him, authorities said.
Meanwhile, Edward Sutton, 18, of the 7200 block of South Emerald Avenue, was sitting with friends on a porch at 7308 S. Emerald about 9:15 p.m. Friday when two men ran up and shot him, Wentworth area police said.
Also in Chicago, a Southeast Side man was in critical condition after being beaten unconscious outside a bar about 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
Juan Zavala, 31, of the 10800 block of South Torrence Avenue, was in critical condition Saturday at Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to a nursing supervisor.
