Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Dancing is supposed to hype you up, not make you drift into a different state of consciousness. But that is what is supposed to happen during the “trance dance,” an exercise offered by Lake Forest College on Saturday at 7 p.m. The dance, said to be based on a ritual that has been performed for more than 40,000 years, lets participants focus on an aspect of their lives which they feel needs correcting. Dancers are blindfolded with the bandanas they are required to bring and move free-form to rhythmic music for three hours of the four-hour session. The session will be held in the Lily Reid Holt Memorial Chapel at the college, 555 N. Sheridan Rd. in Lake Forest. Admission is free for students, faculty and staff, and $15 for others; call 847-295-8537 or 847-317-9642.
