New Lenox trustees said they favor requiring that sidewalks be installed in new subdivisions before building permits are issued.
Village Engineer Ron Franciskovich told trustees at a recent Village Board meeting that the idea is to “get as much of the public improvements up front as possible.”
Trustee Gary Mueller said Public Improvements Committee members also want the sidewalks installed sooner but said they wondered if they could be protected from construction damage.
Developer Bill Bolker said he thinks damage is unavertable if the sidewalks are installed at the beginning of construction the sidewalks are likely to result in being “chipped up, chewed up, cracked, broken.”
