Police are requesting help from the public in identifying a woman whose strangled body was found last week at a shuttered truck stop near the Illinois-Wisconsin border.
Lake County Sheriff’s Police said Monday that the woman’s fingerprints produced no match in an Illinois State Police database. Investigators were awaiting results from the FBI.
The body was discovered Thursday afternoon by a construction worker at the northern edge of a parking lot behind the vacant truck stop, which is northeast of U.S. Highway 41 and Russell Road.
“All indications are she was killed elsewhere and dumped there,” Lake County Sheriff’s Sgt. Thomas Braze said.
Investigators don’t have a motive in the attack.
