All around Perrysburg, Ohio, a delicious split has taken place, this side choosing the Indians this series and that side choosing Florida and manager Jim Leyland, a local boy. Down in Bowling Green, 15 miles away, the St. Aloysius Catholic Church even had a pep rally for its first- through eighth-grade students. Most of the kids were Indians fans. But when Father Tom put on the Marlins cap that the late team president, Carl Barger, once gave him, and mentioned there would be four more days of school in June if the Indians won, the school suddenly had a shift of loyalty. “That convinced them to be Marlin fans,” Father Tom Leyland, Jim’s oldest brother, said.
