In terms of drama, Anthony Moorman’s 10-yard touchdown run for Lake Park in his team’s third overtime against Larkin seemed hard to upstage.

But then Lake Park’s defense gave a late four-star performance. The Lancers stopped Larkin’s Vince Webber at the 1-yard line on fourth down to preserve a 44-38 Upstate Eight victory for Lake Park (6-2, 4-2) Friday night in Elgin.

Webber, one of the area’s top running backs, finished with 120 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries for Larkin (5-3, 3-3). In the first overtime, he scored right after Lake Park’s Jonathan Peacock scored to force a second extra session.

In the second overtime, Larkin’s Matt Schabert connected with Travann Hayes for a TD before Lake Park’s Peacock attempted a TD pass but came up short. An interference call gave Peacock a second chance, and he ran it in for a TD. Peacock also had tied the game at the end of regulation with a TD pass.
