Lincolnshire police were searching Tuesday for a man who escaped from custody over the weekend following his arrest after a bar fight .
A police officer placed the man under arrest about 1:30 a.m. Saturday outside Flatlanders Restaurant and Brewery, 200 Village Green. But the handcuffed suspect fled when the officer went to check on a man injured in the fight, said Lincolnshire Detective Greg Duffey.
Police believe a friend let the suspect out of the backseat of the squad car . Witnesses said the two men fled in a pickup .
The escapee is described as white 26 to 32 years old, 6-foot, 240 pounds with black hair. Police do not know his name . He could face charges of battery, escape, theft for taking the handcuffs and criminal damage to property if he had the cuffs cut off his wrists, Duffey said.
Police believe his friend was named Mark . Anyone with information about the two men should call Lincolnshire police at 847-883-9900.
The man inside the bar suffered a broken arm and possible nerve damage to the limb when he was attacked after coming to the aid of a woman police say the suspect and two others were harassing.
