A 23-year-old Wheeling man was in good condition Monday after suffering stab wounds to the back during an attack Sunday at Barry’s Restaurant, 195 W. Dundee Rd., police said.
Police were expected to seek an arrest warrant for the suspect, also 23, whose last known address was in Rolling Meadows, they said.
The victim, Saul Romero, allegedly went to the restaurant at about 11:15 a.m. Sunday to talk to a cook there over a disputed sum of money, said Buffalo Grove Police Cmdr. Peter Lippert.
After an argument, the cook allegedly stabbed Romero with a kitchen knife as he prepared to leave, Lippert said. The cook then fled the area in a blue vehicle, police said.
Romero suffered two stab wounds and a punctured lung.
