Former DuPage County Board member Patricia Trowbridge is the first to announce she will seek the GOP nomination next year for state representative in the 81st District.

Trowbridge said she intends to make education, taxes and crime the issues in her campaign. She is considering the legislative seat being vacated by state Rep. Judy Biggert (R-Hinsdale), who announced Monday she will run for Congress.

Trowbridge, a resident of unincorporated DuPage County near Downers Grove, was a veteran County Board member who stepped down in 1992 to make the first of two unsuccessful campaigns for the state Senate.
