For a guy who isn’t used to losing, Frank Lenti sure put a refreshingly simple spin on No. 6 Mt. Carmel’s stunning 21-3 loss Saturday to Brother Rice.
“It was just one of those days,” the Mt. Carmel coach said.
Indeed it was as Lenti’s sentiments were echoed as far south as Bolingbrook, where the third-ranked Raiders were upended by Andrew 33-32 on a late touchdown, and as far north as Barrington, where the 17th-ranked Broncos suffered a 14-8 loss at the hands of Buffalo Grove.
“This was a heck of a victory,” said Brother Rice coach Bill Gleeson, whose team hadn’t beaten Mt. Carmel in 17 years.
