With a promise to look out for the interests of families, DuPage County Board member Randy Hultgren (R-Wheaton) announced Thursday that he will seek the GOP nomination for state representative in the 40th District.

Hultgren, 31, has the support of the district’s incumbent, state Rep. Peter Roskam (R-Wheaton), who is giving up the seat to run for the U.S. House in the 13th Congressional District.

Hultgren won election to his first term on the County Board in 1994 and has chaired the board’s Legislative Committee.

He is a lawyer specializing in estate and financial planning and is vice president of Fortress Financial Management in Wheaton. His family operates the Hultgren Funeral Home in Wheaton.

“I promise you that I will be very mindful that these are families’ dollars being spent down in Springfield,” Hultgren said.
