The results of the survey, taken after a series of community meetings called to discuss expanding the high school district facilities, were released last week as part of an advisory committee’s final report to the school board.
According to the survey, 505 people favored enlarging the East Campus in Frankfort and the Central Campus in New Lenox, while 261 opted for building a third high school in the northeast corner of the district in Tinley Park.
The question of whether a respondent would be willing to support expansion by voting on a referendum proposal to pay for for their preferred options drew 651 “yes” votes and 29 “no” votes.
Those answering the survey included 232 people with children attending Lincoln-Way High School, 418 people with younger children who will attend the school and 210 without school-age children.
The school board will discuss the report at a workshop session at 7 p.m. Thursday in the boardroom at the Lincoln-Way Central Campus, 1801 E. Lincoln Highway.
