A 20-year-old Wonder Lake woman has died of injuries she suffered Friday evening when the Jeep Wrangler in which she was riding went off the road and rolled over.
Authorities said Rita S. Rich died Sunday afternoon at Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, where she had been taken by helicopter after the 6:38 p.m. accident on Greenwood Road near Aavang Road, south of Greenwood.
McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren said Monday that the 1994 Wrangler was being driven southbound on Greenwood Road by Sean P. Pruden, 22, also of Wonder Lake, when Pruden lost control for undetermined reasons, causing the vehicle to leave the road on the west side.
Authorities said they believed that neither Pruden nor Rich wore a seatbelt and that each was thrown from the Wrangler.
Pruden was treated and released from Woodstock Memorial Medical Center.
