The Village Board has hired a firm to conduct a study on the possible purchase of the Shady Lawn Golf Course, officials said.
The 27-hole course has been in business since 1929.
At a recent meeting, the board approved the hiring of the Jupiter, Fla.-based National Golf Foundation to conduct the study. Also, Charles Metz and Associates, a Chicago-area land appraiser, will be hired to conduct an appraisal of the land. The firms will be paid $28,500 and $2,000, respectively, officials said.
“We have been approached by the owners of the course regarding a purchase by the village and preliminary discussions have progressed to the point at which the village needs outside help,” according to Village President Paul Lohmann.
