Hersey’s Mike Hill picked a good time to break out.
Marked most of the game by Schaumburg, Hill scored the winning goal on an assist from Pat Reilly with 6 minutes 4 seconds left in overtime as Hersey defeated host Schaumburg 2-1 Thursday in a Mid-Suburban League crossover soccer match.
Schaumburg coach Joe Gari said the Saxons (5-3-3) held Hill down as long as they could.
“You can only slow Hill down,” Gari said.
Joe Szabo scored the first goal for Hersey (9-2) late in the first half on an assist from Ido Gracin. Schaumburg tied it when Dan Klek scored on an assist from Hamid Mehreioskouei with less than 4 minutes to go in the second period.
