Regarding two solutions on how to “improve” baseball (Voice, Sept. 8):
First, to eliminate one of the oldest franchises in baseball and turn Wrigley Field into a minor league park is ridiculous. Expansion has affected all major sports and to a degree has “watered down” the talent pool. But to suggest cutting out franchises makes about as much sense as throwing poor students out of school because they aren’t as smart as the others.
Second, the idea of shortening games is equally as absurd. Baseball has been around for more than 125 years–it is about tradition, not short-attention-spanned fans. Leave the game alone.
