An afternoon fire swept through the attic of a Hoffman Estates home Monday, gutting an attached garage and leaving $80,000 in damage in its wake.
No injuries were reported.
A cause for the fire, which started about 3:20 p.m. in the garage at 105 Des Plaines Lane, had not been pinpointed as of late Monday, according to Hoffman Estates Fire Capt. Michael Kelly.
Most of the damage was confined to the one-car garage and the attic, which runs the length of the ranch-style home. However, slight smoke damage was evident throughout the home.
