Sex and politics, fashion and fetishism, gender and identity: You name the topic and the artists in the exhibit “No Small Feat: Investigations of the Shoe in Contemporary Art” at the Rhona Hoffman Gallery probably have tried it on – and then decided they’d like to see something in another size. Included are Robert Mapplethorpe photographs, in which shoes become phallic, and ceramic shoes by Bela Silva and Margaret Hewlett that hark back to the footware of the old Dutch town of Delft.
