The Naperville Park District and the Conservation Foundation’s DuPage River Coalition will celebrate the glories of the DuPage River on Sept. 14, and the Morton Arboretum has booked its biggest bash of the year, Family Fair ’97, for Sept. 20 and 21.
Last year’s weekend Family Fair drew more than 9,000 children and adults to the Morton Arboretum grounds in Lisle. This year’s event, held in conjunction with the tree museum’s 75th anniversary celebration, will include folk and steel drum music, pumpkin painting, arts and crafts sessions and an appearance by the Commonwealth Edison Power Bus, a rolling collection of educational displays.
A “Tribute to the DuPage River,” to be held along the Riverwalk west of Centennial Beach in Naperville, will feature an afternoon of canoe rides for kids and more.
