A builder’s surveying error is likely to prove costly in view of the Zoning Board of Appeals rejection last week of a setback variance request.
Because of an error in calculating property lines, the foundation laid for a home under construction at 4 Wildwood Drive is 2.2 feet closer to its next-door neighbor than the 20 feet specified by village ordinance. The owner of Country Manor Builders said the cost of removing the foundation would create “a tremendous loss.”
But Carrie Hansen, planning and development administrator, said the situation does not qualify for a variance. The plight of the petitioner results from a mistake.
