Living amid the natural beauty of the countryside is appealing, but rural settings sometimes lack city services. That was the case at a new residential development planned in Lakemoor, a village south of Pistakee Lake in the Chain-O-Lakes.
Burnside Construction Co. solved the problem at the 272-acre site by working with local officials to arrange a $9 million bond issue. It will fund water and sewer systems, part of the village hall, road improvements and parks.
Called Lakemoor Farms, the subdivision is planned for a total of 789 residences. It will include a 92-acre conservation area with sports fields.
The residential mix will include 347 single-family homes, 102 duplexes and 340 townhouses.
The open property, edged by stands of trees, now is being prepared for construction. Jodi Satko, Burnside’s director of sales and marketing, said the first occupancies will be next spring. Models are expected to open in November.
Burnside is offering six plans in the Homestead series priced from $134,900 to $146,900. The single-family homes have three bedrooms. Four larger designs in the Heritage series are priced from $167,900 to $185,900.
Another builder, William Ryan Homes, has purchased 150 lots and will build single-family homes priced from $143,990 to $174,990. The three- and four-bedrooms homes have from 1,464 to 2,136 square feet.
Lakemoor Homes is on the north side of Illinois Highway 120 two miles west of U.S. Highway 12.
