No clear consensus emerged Thursday night at a community meeting that drew less than 50 New Lenox residents to discuss expansion plans for Lincoln-Way High School District 210.

Questions tended to focus on costs.

“We are not New Trier,” said one resident. “We are still what you might call growing in the dust.”

The meeting at Martino Junior High School was the fourth in a series of community sessions called to discuss Lincoln-Way expansion plans.

The Lincoln-Way district has been operating with a freshman-sophomore campus in Frankfort and a junior-senior campus in New Lenox. However, student enrollment, which exceeds 4,300, is expected to top the combined 5,000-student capacity of the two buildings in the next several years.

The school board is considering whether to expand the two buildings or construct a third on district-owned land at 191st Street and Harlem Avenue in Tinley Park.
