The owner of a tavern that closed after an off-duty employee was arrested on suspicion of selling drugs has surrendered his liquor license and sold the business, Mokena Police Chief Steve Pollak said Wednesday.

The Depot Pub, 11041 Front St., closed in January, when a worker was arrested in the alleged selling of cocaine to an undercover officer, Pollak said.

The pub’s owner, George Milas, was not implicated in the drug sale, but he faced a hearing before the Mokena Liquor Commission to determine whether his liquor license should be revoked because of the alleged illegal activity, Pollak said.

Had his license been revoked, Milas would have been permanently ineligible for another Mokena liquor license, and no liquor license could be issued for another establishment in that spot for a year, he said.
