A proposal to open a preschool along North Cedar Road will not get a hearing until the property owner comes up with a parking plan, New Lenox planning officials said Tuesday night.

The site at 1264 N. Cedar Rd., where Kim Kalnins wants to set up a preschool, is zoned for commercial use and is within 300 feet of the commercial intersection of Cedar and Francis Roads.

Plan Commission Chairman Cory Lund said the commission cannot make a recommendation to the Village Board without seeing a parking plan and a time schedule for the preschool classes. He said it was important to prevent traffic from stacking up along Cedar Road.

Meanwhile, a request to annex and rezone property at the other end of Cedar Road won the Plan Commission’s recommendation. Daniel Saenz wants to annex 3.8 acres at 1200 S. Cedar Rd. and rezone it for a retail center. Hansen said the comprehensive plan calls for neighborhood commercial use in that area.
