The Lincoln-Way High School Central Campus’ infrastructure needs upgrading, according to an architect’s report recently presented to the school board.
Architect Dwain Lutzow said he surveyed the Central Campus in New Lenox and the East Campus in Frankfort to fulfill state requirements that school buildings be examined every 10 years.
The Central Campus, built in 1954, needs $4.8 million worth of work, mostly in piping and ventilation. Work at the East Campus, built in 1977, would cost $102,600, Lutzow said.
“The difference between the East and Central (Campuses) reflects the age of the buildings,” Lutzow told the board.
Assistant Supt. Joe Davis said financing for the work would be included in any ballot request related to school expansion funding.
