The Kane County Forest Preserve District is seeking volunteers to participate in its fall seed harvest outings.

As part of the district’s Natural Areas Management Program, seeds that are hand-harvested from healthy plants are mixed together and sown onto district-owned land to help restore natural processes to nature preserves.

Harvests will be conducted on Wednesday mornings and some Friday afternoons from September through early November. Volunteers need no experience, but should be able to hike in fairly rough terrain.

Anyone interested should call Grace Koehler at 847-741-9798 and ask to be placed on the call list.

She will contact volunteers weekly to confirm harvesting sites.
