Hoping to forestall continued overcrowding, the Carpentersville-based School District 300 school board on Monday authorized putting a proposal on the November ballot asking for nearly $79 million in bonds for two new schools, nine additions and other projects.
In addition to seeking funding for new construction, which would account for $60 million of the $78.9 million package, the fast-growing district will ask voters in the Nov. 4 referendum to back millions of dollars in technology and life-safety upgrades, according to district Deputy Supt. Fred Goering.
Goering said the district hopes to enter the bond sale market in January with an eye toward a spring ground-breaking on the nine additions.
