Emerald Ridge sports a golfing heritage, but that will fade away.

Planned for 96 townhouses, the new development in unincorporated DuPage County will be built on the site of a former golf school and driving range.

The rolling 15 acres of grass soon will begin to sprout 20 three-, four- and five-unit buildings.

The Terrestris Development Co. project is at Illinois Highway 83 and Bluff Road near Argonne National Laboratory.

Offered are four two-bedroom, 1 1/2-bath plans that can be expanded to three bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths.

Ranging in price from $155,900 to $171,900 and in size from 1,582 to 1,944 square feet, the units will include two-car garages and English basements with above-ground windows.

Standard features will include wall-to-wall carpeting, aluminum siding and sodded and landscaped grounds.

Models are expected to open this winter.

“Homeowners will be able to follow a path that leads from their door to a scenic natural area,” said Marsha Elliott, Terrestris executive vice president and partner. She noted that an additional five acres of open space will be deeded adjacent to the Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve.

The maintenance-free development is in Hinsdale Elementary District 180 and High School District 86 (Hinsdale South).

Emerald Ridge is convenient to Interstate Highways 55 and 294.
