After a flood of letters and e-mails asking us to do so, Dumpling Zone recently trekked to the Tibet Cafe to try its fabled momo. This pot-sticker-like noodle package filled with mixed vegetables is steamed (Tsel Momo) or fried (Tsel Momo Ngopa) to order and then placed on a bed of shredded salad. And if you’re crazy about tubers, you can get momos with potatoes mixed into the veg (Tibet Cafe Special). Although these are not our favorite dumplings in the world, we were crazy about the flavor-packed hot sauce served on the side and the almost indescribably peaceful vibe you get from the cafe’s small, wood-paneled dining room.
