The Mokena Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals voted Thursday night to recommend annexation and rezoning of 2.6 acres on 191st Street east of LaGrange Road.
Property owner June Stanley wants the property annexed into the village and rezoned from the E-2 estate category to the C-2 general commercial category for sale to a developer.
The 191st Street area west of LaGrange Road was the subject of a recent land use study commissioned by the Village Board, which considers the roadway a “gateway” to the village.
Originally slated for primarily industrial and commercial development, land use categories may be shifted away from industrial use and targeted toward office and residential development as a result of the study’s recommendations.
