An 18-year-old Aurora man faces aggravated assault, theft of a firearm, burglary and other charges after he was accused of shooting at an Aurora police officer.
Billy Cole Jr. of 214 T St. was arrested Saturday afternoon after a chase in the area of Simms and Jackson Streets.
Aurora police said Cole, a fugitive, struggled with and disarmed an officer who had tried to arrest him on warrants from Kane and Will Counties. He had been sought on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, leaving the scene of an accident, unlawful restraint and criminal damage to property.

Police said Cole fired a shot from the officer’s pistol as he fled, and then broke into an unoccupied house in the 800 block of South Jackson Street. A neighbor alerted police, and the house was surrounded. Cole surrendered about 20 minutes later, police said.
