Despite rumors to the contrary, ongoing construction at Buffalo Grove High School will have no effect on the school’s first day of classes on Aug. 26 or on freshman orientation, scheduled for Aug. 19, High School District 214, officials said.
Switchboard operators at the high school, 1100 W. Dundee Rd., have received numerous calls in recent days from parents and students asking if a massive construction project would delay the start of school, they said.
A $5.5 million project replacing much of the school’s heating, air-conditioning and ventilation system is now under way but should be substantially cleaned up before the first buses roll in, said Seymour Schwartz, the district’s buildings and grounds director.
The new system is expected to save the district $200,000 in its first year, he said.
