Veteran Woodstock attorney Michael Caldwell was sworn in Thursday as an associate judge in McHenry County Circuit Court and will take the bench Friday, presiding over Bond Court.

Caldwell, 58, the city attorney for Woodstock and a lawyer for 34 years, was elected to the $106,000 job on July 10 by the 15 Circuit judges in McHenry and Lake Counties, which comprise the 19th Judicial Circuit.

Caldwell will serve the remainder of a four-year term ending on June 30, 1999, left vacant when Frank Rhode retired Aug. 1.
