Angela Bernice Glover, 39, a physician recruiter, spent most of her free time tutoring kids, organizing church events and tending to a host of godchildren. She was a voracious reader, who loved to shop and go out dancing with friends.

Ms. Glover was stabbed to death Saturday by an intruder who broke into her home in Oak Park.

“She was so warm, loving and giving,” said Risa Davis, who had known Ms. Glover since the two attended Northwestern University.

Police later charged 29-year-old James Evans, of 736 W. 118th St., with first-degree murder, home invasion and residential burglary.

A St. Louis native, Ms. Glover graduated from Northwestern with a bachelor’s degree in economics. While at college, she was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, where she spent countless hours tutoring children.

For the last five years, she worked with the United Negro College Fund, where she helped organize an annual telethon party. She also led a volunteer tutoring program based at Cosmopolitan Community Church in Chicago. The group tutored kids from the Robert Taylor Homes.

“She just loved children and was so concerned about making sure they got the proper education,” Davis said. “And the kids just loved her”

Ms. Glover worked with the University of Chicago Health Systems as a physician recruiter. Before that, she worked for several pharmaceutical companies, where she was active in the National Consortium of Medical Representatives.

Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Gloria and Claude Foster; father and stepmother, Alvoyd and Blanche Glover; and three sisters.

Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Apostolic Faith Church, 3823 S. Indiana Ave. in Chicago. A funeral will follow at 10 a.m.
