A 27-year-old Zion man pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated robbery and burglary for his involvement in a ring police said was inspired at least in part by the movie “Natural Born Killers.”

Under a plea agreement, Lake County Judge Stephen Walter sentenced Robert Brasseaux, of 2541 Galilee Ave., to 11 years in prison.

Police arrested Brasseaux shortly after he held up the Fashionation clothing store, 2617 Grand Ave., in Waukegan, on May 18.

Brasseaux’s live-in girlfriend, Christine Ann Beshel, 24, worked at the store and allegedly helped set up the robbery, authorities said. She also has been charged.

Brasseaux pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the robbery and from a May 7 burglary at the Cleveland Corp., 42810 N. Green Bay Rd., in unincorporated Zion.

Beshel and a third member of the alleged ring, Jeffrey Lalond, 27, of Wadsworth, were charged in connection with the burglary and an April 5 robbery at the Cornerstone Motel, 1427 Sheridan Rd., Winthrop Harbor.

Waukegan Deputy Police Chief William Biang, commander of the Repeat Offender Strike Force of Lake County, said the trio had repeatedly watched the Oliver Stone film, “Natural Born Killers.”
