An artistic surprise: Visitors to Long Grove during July have been doing a double take and grabbing for a camera. More than a dozen animals and people, including poet Robert Frost, have taken up temporary residence in town.
They are 15 life-sized bronze sculptures that are part of the Studio of Long Grove Galleries’ Art in July Sculpture Walk, co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Long Grove.
“Everyone is shooting pictures,” said Tom Hilligoss, gallery owner. “They go by the Village Tavern and see the people on a bench outside the door and take out the camera. Same with the Robert Frost on a bench outside my door.”

The show has gathered the work of nine internationally known sculptors. Putting it together was a dream come true for Hilligoss.
“The works of art I’ve exhibited have largely been paintings,” he said. “But I’ve always had a desire to do this. There is great power in sculpture.”
The sculptures will remain through July. Call the Studio of Long Grove at 847-634-4244 for information.
