Milwaukee-based Harnischfeger Industries Inc. says it will begin an all-cash hostile tender offer to acquire Fond du Lac, Wis.-based Giddings & Lewis Inc. in a transaction valued at $747 million. The acquisition, if successful, would create a company with combined annual revenue of $3.6 billion. The company would have operations in mining equipment, pulp and papermaking machinery and industrial products.
