Police were searching Wednesday for a male transvestite who apparently tried to abduct a 14-year-old Roselle girl Tuesday night.
The victim told police she and her friends were standing in the 1100 block of Lake Street at 6:58 p.m. Tuesday when a 6-foot, 200-pound man with long, dark hair and wearing a white skirt drove up in a mid-1980s gray or blue Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and stepped out to talk to them.
The man, who identified himself as “Silky,” tried to persuade the victim to get into his car. When the girl refused, the man stepped toward her but then reconsidered and fled.
