Hot Tix just got revamped, thanks to a new initiative by the League of Chicago Theaters under new honcho Marj Halperin. Hot Tix, which sold 60,000 tickets in Chicago last year, will now offer tickets to all league shows, which means virtually every production in Chicago will have half-price tickets available on the day of the show.

“But ticket buyers will have to buy early in the day,” said Halperin. “In some cases, the number of tickets will be limited.”

Hot Tix will also offer tickets on Fridays for weekend shows. Both ticket policies go into effect immediately.

The discount ticket service has now opened a booth at the Chicago Water Tower, replacing the office previously at Chicago Place, 700 N. Michigan Ave. The new office, at the city’s visitors center, is a collaboration with the city’s Department of Cultural Affairs.

A new “Theater Info-Line” also is making its debut, promising specific information about all league shows, at 1-900-225-2225. Callers are charged $1 a minute.
