Attorneys for two men accused of kidnapping Orland Park resident Nick Kritikos and holding him hostage for 10 days last month filed motions Monday to have their bonds reduced.
Chris Broches, 40, of Hampshire is being held on $1 million bond. Bond for Everado Valle, 23, of Elgin was set at $500,000 by Judge William Aukstik.
Neither man can afford the 10 percent cash payment required to get out of Cook County Jail, according to their attorneys. So David Thomas, representing Valle, and John Donahue, representing Broche, filed the motions Monday at Bridgeview courthouse.
They expect to present their cases May 29 at 2 p.m. Both Thomas and Donahue say their clients are first-time offenders, have wives and children to support and jobs waiting for them.
