Students at Harper College are organizing the first of what they plan to be an annual AIDS Walk Harper to benefit the HIV Coalition, an organization that provides HIV/AIDS education and assistance in the northwest suburbs.
The event will be 8:30 a.m. to noon, Sunday, May 4–rain or shine–at the campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Rd., and will start with speakers including Palatine Mayor Rita Mullins and Arlington Heights Mayor Arlene Mulder. About 300 people are expected to complete the 4.4-mile walk around the college’s perimeter drive.
To register, call the college’s student activities office at 847-925-6242 or the HIV Coalition, 847-391-9809.
Those who turn in a completed pledge sheet will be eligible for a drawing of prizes. Pledge sheets are available at college division offices or at AIDS Walk Harper tables in Buildings J and L.
