5 Chinese Brothers hail from New York City, which no one who wears a Stetson should hold against them. Neither Chinese nor brothers (in fact, not even five), these boys also accent their work with smart humor and rockin’ good fun. “Three Cool Guys” employs a Cajun squeezebox to pay homage to Jackie Chan, Buster Keaton and Popeye the Sailor, while “My Love for You Has Turned to Hate” and “I Call My Pain by Your Name” mine familiar Nashville veins. But it’s the dilemma described in the Jimmy Rogers-inspired “The Boy From New York City, the Girl From Tennessee” that neatly captures their cultural schizophrenia.
