Village Attorney Jack Siegel said Tuesday night that owners of seven local business properties have until next week to accept the village’s offer to buy rights of way for a road project from them before the village starts condemnation proceedings.

The seven properties, Siegel said, have frontages along Golf, Higgins and Roselle Roads. Parts of those frontages will be needed for an upcoming street widening project to improve traffic flow.

Siegel said the village has been negotiating to buy rights of way from 10 properties in the heavily congested Golf-Higgins-Roselle Triangle for months and recently sent letters to owners of those 10 properties with the purchase offers.

So far, one deal has been finalized and two others are close to being completed, he said.
