The Police Department was evacuated for about 20 minutes Monday when an electrical box in the basement caught fire, authorities said.
Damage to the building at 46 Raupp Blvd. was negligible, but officials evacuated the building when occupants smelled smoke at 9:50 a.m. Firefighters extinguished the fire quickly, officials said.
The electrical box short-circuited when electricity was restored to the building after a morning power-outage, police said. The building had been powered with a supplemental generator during the outage, they said.
