If you’re looking for crass violence and nudity, you’ll have very little trouble finding it in the current crop of senseless commercial movie fare. But if you’re looking for a classier brand of violence and nudity, you’ve also got plenty of artier film options this weekend.

Friday: Douglas Fairbanks will be stabbing and swashbuckling his way through the silent classic “The Iron Mask” at 8 p.m. in the Gateway Theatre at the Copernicus Center, 5216 W. Lawrence Ave.; $6-$8; 773-777-7785.

Friday-Sunday: The Margaret Mead film festival, which always seems to throw in a few naked native shots, will present 17 films and videos by anthropologists and filmmakers from all over the world. The movies this year are divided under the program titles “The Many Cultures of the USA” and “The World at the End of the Second Millennium” and will feature the cultures of Hawaii, India and Papua New Guinea (of course) among others.

Most films will be shown at the Field Museum from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, but Columbia College will present an opening night film (“People of the Earth: A Visual Voyage”) and reception ($18-$20) at 6 p.m. Friday in its Hokin Auditorium, 623 S. Wabash Ave.

Regular tickets: $13-$15 for one day; $22-$25 for both. Address: Roosevelt Road and Lake Shore Drive. 312-322-8854.
