The Conservation Foundation of DuPage County has lengthened its reach–and shortened its name.

Trustees of the county’s oldest and largest private conservation organization recently voted to drop “of DuPage County” from the group’s name now that its land-preservation activities have branched out into Kane, Kendall and Will Counties.

According to Conservation Foundation President Robert Schillerstrom, the Wheaton-based group still will focus its efforts in DuPage County. However, as preservation opportunities dwindled in DuPage, foundation members have begun working with residents and government agencies in outlying counties. Schillerstrom said the foundation can help counties “get a jumpstart on land preservation early, before development consumes them.”

The foundation’s DuPage River Coalition activities have been expanded to include Will County.
