Batavia Mayor Jeff Schielke was named chairman of the newly formed joint municipal-county Stormwater Management Committee at its first official meeting this week at the Kane County Government Center in Geneva.

The 12-member panel, comprised of six County Board members and six municipal representatives from throughout the county, was established by County Board Chairman Mike McCoy (R-Aurora) to develop a countywide approach toward dealing with stormwater management and flooding emergencies.

“Our goal is to have a plan before the County Board within 18 months,” said Tim Harbaugh, Kane County environmental management director.
